Comprehensive Evaluation
The Handicap Driver Training Comprehensive Evaluation is a specialized program designed to help determine your ability to drive safely and the modifications or adaptive equipment needed to help you achieve your road independence. A 7-page written report with recommendations will be provided to you after your evaluation.
Please note that our Comprehensive Evaluation requires a Doctor’s prescription.
This program consists of two parts:
Part 1: Clinical Evaluation
During your clinical evaluation, we will assess:
- Your Vision
We evaluate your acuity, contrast, depth perception, peripheral vision, and visual-spatial skills. - Your Cognition
We evaluate your attention, memory, judgment, and planning skills. - Your Range of Motion
We evaluate your coordination, strength, dexterity, and range of motion.
Part 2: Behind-the-Wheel Evaluation
With the necessary adaptive equipment, you will complete the Behind-the-Wheel evaluation portion in one of our provided evaluation vehicles. During this evaluation, we asses what vehicle modification or adaptive equipment would suit your needs to make driving as safe and comfortable as possible.
- Good judgment
- Reaction time
- Visual scanning
- Safe vehicle operation
